The idea for this website came about from the personal experience the CEO of Advance Martial Arts Advertising and Marketing (AMAAM), Inc., Mara Fineshriber had while getting her son involved with Martial Arts. Her young son, having been a competitive martial artist for several years, found herself traveling the US attending competition after competition serving as his chief cheerleader, bag holder, water bottle carrier, music player, chauffeur, snack bringer, and picture taker. She had the occasion to meet many martial art students and instructors and found, after her son’s first instructor had to close his school due to insufficient student population, that many other school owners were struggling with some of the same issues.
Having watched how difficult it was for the school owner to have to sell his school and the effects his students experienced in dealing with that transition, Fineshriber decided to put her years of marketing experience to good use and figure out a way she could come up with a business model that brought quality new student prospects to martial arts schools without them having to risk large dollars and time to do so. And with that, Advance Martial Arts Advertising and Marketing, Inc. was born.
The first order of business was to create an all-encompassing martial arts website where people interested in martial arts could find information, people, products, and services, and use them to learn, compare, and choose which to contact and/or purchase in order to help them achieve personal goals and growth. The website helps match people defining what they are looking for, with martial arts businesses that offer those products and services.
To the public, we provide a forum where they are able to research information on martial arts, compare, and eventually purchase, martial arts products and services, and create a bridge for the public and martial arts experts and business owners to communicate with each other. We pride ourselves on how well we help martial arts school owners find quality prospective students for their schools and how well we find quality prospective martial arts schools for the public that lives near them.
President and CEO
Mara Fineshriber has over 2 decades of advertising and marketing experience and has helped large companies in the automotive and higher education industries generate leads for their products and services. She was once a martial artist herself, many moons ago, and was happy to watch her son take up the sport and achieve multiple state, national, and world honors. She spends her free time traveling with her son helping him achieve his goal of becoming an ATA World Champ. An interesting bit of trivia we will let you in on, the image of the little boy on the masthead of the advancemartialartsconnect.com website is Mara’s son Ethan.
Chief Financial Officer
Scott Thomas has a long history of successful management of several banks. He is the consummate bean counter and babysitter of all things financial. While never broaching the sport of martial arts, he did regularly kick some tush on the football field. In his college years, Scott was a junior college All-American and led the nation in receiving yards. Not sure how this ended up translating to banking and finance, but AMAAM, Inc. is glad it did.
Director of Sales
DeOrr Wight has been an entrepreneur and business professional for over 25 years. He has owned several businesses and currently owns and runs a company in the Business Products Industry. His vast experience building and developing business processes and distribution systems has proven very profitable. DeOrr is one of the hardest working, self-motivated people you will ever meet. He and his wife, Alisa, have 4 children and X grand children. DeOrr loves spending time with his family and spending time on the ice either playing or refereeing hockey games.
Director of Communications
Tom has worked in marketing and enrollment for the past eight years. He has worn many hats in his eight year tenure at Western Governors University having helped manage their affiliate marketing program, their email marketing campaigns, and their Direct Mail campaigns. Before that he spent seven years in administration and management in schools of music. He is particularly successful in the area of customer service and has a talent for understanding how to communicate and serve the customer well. Tom has been married to his wonderful wife, Tiffany, for 22 years and they have four children together. Tom enjoys scuba diving, and singing and conducting his churches choir in his spare time.
